Ive been working at Glenmore Lodge over the weekend on 2 one day workshops for MCofS taking students from Dundee University through the "process" of winter climbing without actually climbing. Lots of talking and chatting through whats involved with kit, weather forecasts, avalanche awareness, route selection...... a very long list but hopefully the students went away with some top tips and a better understanding of winter climbing. As you can see from the photos its lucky we were'nt actually climbing! More snow please.

Alien on Skye!
I had a day on Skye with Graeme working for MWSS,, Monday. We were doing a recee and meeting the locations staff from the new Alien movie Prometheus. They were looking at filiming in and around the Storr cliffs which looks a bit like a lunar landscape. Graeme has been on Skye over the weekend organising the safety cover etc and they filmed today, everything went well, great for MWSS and Skye and Scotland. This was the first ever outside UK filming on an Alien production (£65 milion budget) and.......... it turns out that the Alien comes from Skye, he was born there.... in Scotlland!! You ll need to go and see it when it comes out in the Summer.
